Turning Floors Into Canvases: The Art of CNC Tufting

At Racemark, we believe the floor of a car is more than just a surface—it’s a canvas. With the introduction of our new CNC tufting machine in Empfingen, Germany, we’re taking that vision to the next level, opening possibilities that merge advanced technology with artistic craftsmanship.

A New Chapter in Automotive Flooring

The Robotuft or CNC tufting machine brings an unprecedented level of precision, flexibility, and sustainability to automotive carpet production. Unlike conventional tufting machines, which are designed for large-scale commercial projects, our process is capable of producing one-off pieces or small-series runs without compromising quality or efficiency.

With this innovation, designers can create carpets featuring multiple pile heights, textures, colors and even intricate patterns within a single piece. It’s a zero-waste process that uses only the materials required—an important step in aligning luxury with sustainability.

Showcasing Possibilities Through Art

To celebrate and showcase the creative potential of the Robotuft, our Empfingen team partnered with local artist Heidrun Pfeiffer.

Inspired by her bold, textured artwork, we developed a series of carpets that translated her designs into tufted form. The result was a powerful demonstration of how technology can bring artistry to life—turning the floor of a vehicle into a statement of design, emotion, and individuality.

This collaboration highlighted what makes the Robotuft so unique: it is not just a production machine, but a tool for co-creation, where designers, engineers, and artists can push the boundaries of automotive interiors together.

A Future of Unlimited Design Potential

As vehicle interiors evolve into experiential spaces, flooring is emerging as a focal point for comfort, style, and brand identity. With CNC tufting, Racemark Manufaktur in Empfingen is combining the precision of robotics with the soul of craftsmanship.

With the introduction of the Robotuft, we are inviting our automotive customer’s to visit our us for private design sessions to create freely where art and technology meet underfoot.
